This project demonstrates the possibility of a world map that transforms itself to reflect the media interests in different regions of the globe. A search engine scans online news sites and picks up the names of countries mentioned on their pages. The frequency of a name modifies the coordinates of the country on the map so that frequently reported regions become more prominent, increasingly diminishing those of less interest. Thus, on the map rendered by CNN, the Middle-East will stretch itself to the most of the earth’s surface while Greenland will hold a high chance of elimination. Tomorrow’s map will differ from today’s, and New York Times from that of Le Monde.
