Sasa[44]’s exhibition Wadangtang­tungtang was created mainly for children and families, with the theme of shopping and everyday consumption. The title treatment reflects this theme with a “POP hand,” a highly stylized Korean letterform used in impromptu signs at various “points of purchase.” The type arrangement – the layers of words clumsily stacked on top of each other – suggests the possibility of collapse, which is also hinted at by the show’s title (a Korean echoic word that describes the loud sound of objects hitting the ground).

The text typeface is vaguely reminiscent of the letterform found on printed receipts.
