Kraliçe Uncertain is part of the identity system designed by Project Projects in New York for SALT, an art museum in Istanbul. The system is simple: starting from the original typeface Kraliçe, a different designer is regularly invited to contribute specially designed characters S, A, L, and T to its ever-expanding glyph set (and thus, the visual vocabulary of the museum). Our contribution was the four gray letters, whose tones are rendered by randomly scattered dots. The idea was to fold the traditional typographic ideal of the gray page into the pages’s building blocks themselves. After some struggle to find a right name for the font, we settled on Uncertain.
