Trichtlinnburg
- 2004
- offset lithograph
- 594 x 841 mm (A1)
The research project set out to explore the various issues related to the city under the pressure of tourism, development and the demand of preservation, among many other economic and social forces. The name Trichtlinnburg refers to a fictional city in which the project staged itself. It also reflects the three institutions involved in the project: Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht, the Netherlands; Centre for Contemporary Art in Tallinn, Estonia; and Salzburger Kunstverein, Austria.
The poster shows two fictional motorway signs: a directional sign to the city of Trichtlinnburg; and a “tourist attraction” sign displaying combined skyline silhouette of the three cities with their reflection on the river (all three cities have a river). Accidentally, the silhouette also reminds of a waveform. The backside of the poster is full of detailed information about the project.
